Rodney Thompson’s Scratchpad Publishing has launched a joint crowdfunding reprint campaign for Dusk City Outlaws and Spectaculars on BackerKit. The initiative combines print runs alongside the impending production of Thompson’s third design, Neon City Outlaws, allowing international distribution to resume for the first time since global shipping disruptions halted physical restocks in 2020.
Thompson, whose design credits include the Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition, the core rulebooks for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, and board game classics such as Lords of Waterdeep, originally released Dusk City Outlaws in 2018 and the comic-book roleplaying game Spectaculars in 2020. Both boxed sets sold out quickly, but supply chain pressures prevented small-scale reprints until bulk manufacturing could align with the newest title.

100AC Engine
Both titles run on Thompson’s proprietary 100AC System, a percentile dice engine designed specifically for rapid resolution and zero-preparation play.
In Dusk City Outlaws, players take on the roles of scoundrels executing intricate fantasy heists across the sprawling metropolis of New Dunhaven. Character creation eliminates lengthy stat generation by pairing Clan and Speciality sheets with a 60-card Deck of Quirks and 20-card Deck of Time to pace planning and action phases. Spectaculars translates comic-book superhero serials to the table using tear-off series pads, an 85-card Deck of Identities, a 105-card Deck of Powers, and a 40-card Deck of Complications.
Rather than standard numerical modifiers, the 100AC core mechanic combines standard percentile dice with custom six-sided Advantage and Challenge dice. Advantage dice provide narrative and tactical boons when a roll succeeds or mitigates fallout on a failure, while Challenge dice introduce complications or escalate hazards.
Add-ons, VTT integration, and stretch milestones
Alongside the core reprints, the campaign introduces several physical accessories. These include a 40-card foil-stamped promo deck drawing cards across all three Scratchpad games, a four-panel gamemaster screen for Dusk City Outlaws, and the Spectaculars Multiverse Pack, which bundles spare setting books and campaign series pads so groups can build separate comic continuities without buying a second core set.
Digital support has also expanded. Scratchpad partnered with developer Paul Watson to bring official Foundry VTT modules to Dusk City Outlaws, Spectaculars, and Neon City Outlaws, available as individual add-ons provided each reaches a 30-backer fulfilment threshold.
Having surpassed its initial $10,000 goal within 12 hours, the project has cleared $20,000 in funding. Backers have unlocked two bonus digital scenarios per game, six total across the three titles. The next milestone at $22,500 unlocks an offline, cross-platform 100AC System dice-rolling app for web, iOS, and Android.

Pledge Overview and Funding Deadline
Scratchpad avoids piecemeal tier confusion by grouping rewards around standalone physical boxes, digital toolsets, and combined library bundles. Digital-only backers can secure Foundry VTT modules and complete PDF packages across all three games for approximately £45. Individual physical reprints of Dusk City Outlaws or Spectaculars start at roughly £48 each, while a dual reprint pledge provides both boxed sets for around £89. Collectors seeking every physical product published by Scratchpad, including the core games, screens, extra dice sets, card packs, and the slipcased deluxe edition of Neon City Outlaws, can opt for the All-In tier at approximately £186.
The campaign operates under an all-or-nothing model and concludes on 7 November 2026 at 08:00 GMT. Scratchpad has partnered with GamesQuest to handle customs-friendly fulfilment for the UK and Europe.
