We’ve got a real treat for all you geeks tonight, as Rivian has shared an incredible Ghostbusters-themed promo starring Bill Murray who has reprised his role as Dr. Peter Venkman, to take on the big greedy gobbling spirit that is Slimer! It’s also a chance for Rivian to showcase a pretty cool new feature.
What if I told you that all of this isn’t just for show? The commercial shows off an actual new ‘Halloween mode’ feature, transforming its electric vehicles into ghostbusting machines! Spooky lighting? Tick. Familiar sound effects? Tick. Some extra fun surprises? Tick!
Rivian collaborated with Sony Pictures for the commercial, saying:
PKE readings were off the charts. Good thing Dr. Peter Venkman and the Ecto-R1 were ready to take the call. This year, we teamed up with Sony Pictures to bring Ghostbusters to every Rivian.
With the press of a button, Halloween mode turns your vehicle into an all-electric ghost-busting ride, with eerie lighting, iconic sounds and a few special tricks. It’s available through November 1, and is just one of the software updates every Rivian gets throughout the year to make your vehicle more fun and more capable. What a time to be alive! I never imagined I’d see a car company go all-out quite to this extent, especially with the custom-built Ecto-R1 that is set to be making appearances at special events all season long.
