Edinburgh studio Tettix Games has brought the first public demo of its upcoming board game, Personal Demons, to Tabletop Scotland 2026 at the Royal Highland Centre. Speaking to Geek Native at the event, which runs through Sunday 6 September, the team confirmed that the project will launch on Kickstarter on 22 September. Following the critical and commercial success of their 2024 Lovecraftian fishing title Deep Regrets, the new release shifts focus from oceanic dread to therapeutic ritual.

The core game accommodates one to four players, expanding to five or six with an optional upgrade. Mechanically, Personal Demons operates as a closed-drafting spatial puzzle played over three rounds. Each participant maintains an individual summoning circle, selecting a single card from their hand to place within the arrangement before passing the remaining hand to the neighbouring player. Success hinges on resolving conflicting scoring requirements across increasingly varied card sizes, ranging from small fragments to colossal entities. At the conclusion of the third round, the player with the highest tally reflects the greatest therapeutic progress, though the rules gently insist that nobody truly loses a session.
Beyond the live demo tables, attendees visiting the booth this weekend have access to a very limited supply of physical prototype cards from earlier development and playtesting. Illustrated and hand-signed by designer and artist Judson Cowan, several of these individual cards are being released for purchase each day of the convention. Friday’s allocation sold out almost immediately after doors opened, driven by local collectors keen to secure an early artefact from the production process.
The physical production maintains the studio’s established aesthetic direction while adhering to a strict anti-AI policy. Every illustration across the standard, hefty, and colossal card tiers has been hand-drawn by Cowan, with no generative software used. Visitors wandering the show floor may also encounter the game’s crimson demon mascot in puppet form, which made appearances across the gaming halls on Friday and spent time hovering over games of Deep Regrets.

Tabletop Scotland attendees have through Sunday to test the system in person at Ingliston before the public campaign begins.
