Wizards of the Coast and event promoter AEG Presents have officially postponed the upcoming D&D Fan Expo: London, pushing the massive O2 Arena gathering out of the 2026 calendar entirely. Originally scheduled to take over the Greenwich venue this August, the live celebration of the world’s oldest roleplaying game has been delayed by more than a year. Organisers have rescheduled the two-day convention to the 4th and 5th of September 2027.

The postponement leaves a significant gap in the UK convention circuit, missing what was tracking to be the first official Dungeons & Dragons arena-scale event in Europe. In a joint statement, the companies framed the decision as a strategic move to “expand the show” and secure “more special guests,” while confirming that existing tickets will remain valid for the new 2027 dates. Those unable to attend the revised weekend can request full refunds from their original point of purchase.
The sudden shift mirrors broader systemic issues currently facing the UK’s capital city, which is a hub for major fan conventions. The delay comes closely on the heels of London Film and Comic Con completely cancelling its own 2026 event. In that instance, organisers explicitly blamed the skyrocketing cost of transatlantic flights required to bring high-profile international talent into the country.
Industry pressure had also been building around D&D Fan Expo: London regarding its talent strategy. Despite a vibrant community of local creators, actual play podcasts, and independent roleplaying game designers based across the UK, the initial billing relied heavily on flying in prominent North American guests. Observers note that the London Film and Comic Con organisers faced criticism for delaying until 2027 rather than using local British talent. Flying guests in is a logistical preference that has proven financially precarious for promoters navigating current travel and hospitality costs in London.
The 2026 itinerary was set to feature high-profile international guests alongside local acts, including a Friday night opening performance by the British actual play group High Rollers at Indigo at the O2. The main Saturday arena show was budgeted for a live production featuring voice actors from Baldur’s Gate 3 and prominent US actual-play personalities. Whether the exact same line-up will transition to the new dates in September 2027 remains unconfirmed. Organisers promise to announce new additions and details in the coming weeks, though Ticketmaster already has September 4th and 5th tickets on offer.
