As the spring convention season gears up across the United Kingdom this April 2026, tabletop enthusiasts are increasingly seeking lighter, zero-preparation palate cleansers to offset heavy campaign fatigue. Enter Kalum, the London-based host of The Rolistes podcast, who has launched a tabletop solution to a uniquely specific problem: the post-dungeon loot split. His latest project, Magic of Inventorying, is a GM-less roleplaying game designed to simulate the chaotic and often hilarious process of adventurers trying to pack up their ill-got gains.
Currently funding on Kickstarter, the game has already smashed its initial £8,733 goal, sitting comfortably past £19,000 with over 400 backers. It asks three to six players to figure out what happens after the dungeon ruler is defeated, and the real challenge begins: managing encumbrance before the journey home.
Instead of complex combat algorithms, Magic of Inventorying relies on a “roll first / describe after” system using standard polyhedral dice. The ruleset is engineered to be a short, one-shot experience lasting two to three hours. It caters to a broad audience, accommodating everyone from hardcore Old School Renaissance veterans and Powered by the Apocalypse enthusiasts to absolute beginners aged ten and up.
The overarching goal is to determine which wondrous items spark joy and which ones will simply weigh an overloaded adventurer down. The system completely removes the need for a Game Master, making it an ideal fallback option for game nights when a player or the usual referee cancels at the last minute.
Sustainable Hoarding
A significant focus of the campaign is on sustainable and durable production. The physical components include dry-erase play aids and cards designed for high replayability. The creator has committed to using manufacturers certified for environmental and worker safety. All physical pledges also secure the Kickstarter Special Pack, which features two illustrated postcards, two bookmarks, and two lenticular stickers highlighting the game’s tentacled, dungeon-crawling aesthetic.
Funding Tiers and Rewards
Rather than overwhelming backers with endless options, the campaign presents a clear progression of rewards. For digital-only players, a £9 pledge secures all necessary files to play online or print at home. The physical core game, dubbed the Adventurer tier, is available for £27. However, the most thematic option is the Hoarder tier at £62. This premium package includes the core game, a replay book detailing an actual play session, dry-erase class standees, a custom set of six-sided dice, a dedicated token bag, and a colouring book.
