The first trailer for Dune: Part Three has just dropped from Warner Bros. and Legendary, and it looks like we’re in for one hell of an epic finale to Denis Villeneuve‘s reimagined sci-fi trilogy.
Releasing this December, the film is based on Frank Herbert‘s novel Dune: Messiah (1969) and takes place 17 years after the events of Dune: Part Two. As an aside, Villeneuve had previously stated to Vanity Fair that these movie will NOT be counted as a trilogy (but it does carry on the story, and states ‘trilogy’ right there in the trailer so I guess we can ignore that now).
Anyway, what we’ve got on our hands is a final chapter that will hit harder than the previous two, and will hopefully draw this monumental cinematic saga to a satisfactory ending. And, considering Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two pulled in a combined $1.12 billion worldwide, with eight Oscars across 15 nominations, it’s… probably going to do alright.
The trailer starts with a scene featuring Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya), where they talk about names for their child, before we get a much wider picture of the sheer scale of war and destruction taking place.

Also returning for more death, destruction and desert are cast members Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jason Momoa, alongside newcomers like Anya Taylor-Joy and Isaach de Bankolé.
And you’ll be able to watch Dune: Part Three when it’s released on 18th December.
