Maestro Media has revealed its latest licensing venture, Avatar: Pandora’s Power, a two-player card game that pits the RDA against the Na’vi in a fight for the moon’s resources. Eschewing the traditional deck-builder format for an asymmetric lane-battling system, the game attempts to mechanise the fundamental ideological clash at the heart of James Cameron’s multi-billion-dollar franchise.

The title focuses on a race to 30 points, with players deploying units across iconic locations. While one player takes the role of the industrial, extractive RDA, the other leads a Na’vi faction, such as the Omatikaya clan, using nature-based mechanics and animal allies to repel the invaders.
Asymmetry as Gameplay
In a move to differentiate the experience from generic “skirmish” card games, the mechanics are tailored to the lore of each faction. The RDA player operates through “focused strikes” and resource extraction, presumably rewarding aggressive, high-efficiency plays. Conversely, the Na’vi player relies on “interconnectedness,” drawing from any deck and summoning new creatures when specific Heroes enter the field.
Javon Frazier, CEO of Maestro Media, explained the design philosophy in a press release:
Avatar has always been about conflict shaped by values, not just power. With Avatar: Pandora’s Power, we wanted players to feel that contrast in every decision. The RDA and the Na’vi do not play the same game, and they should not. One side is focused, aggressive, and extractive. The other is adaptive, interconnected, and rooted in the land. The asymmetry is the experience.”
Box Contents and Playtime
The game appears designed for quick, tactical sessions, with an estimated playtime of 20–45 minutes. The box includes:
- 170 Faction Cards
- 18 Location Cards
- 12 Injury Tokens
- 4 Score Markers
- 1 Scoreboard
