Dog House Rules has launched a new campaign that mashes up the cape-wearing heroics of the Golden Age with the sanity-shredding terror of the Great Old Ones. Occult City is a setting where vigilantes don’t just fight mobsters; they battle “The Nightmare” itself.
We’ve got until February 26th to back the campaign.
The premise is a unique blend of genres: “Pulp Superhero Horror.” Powered by Savage Worlds, the game requires the Super Powers Companion and the Horror Companion to fully realise its vision. The setting, known simply as “The City,” is a place where information is currency and the GM has deep pockets. Heroes must navigate “Sacred Places” and “Profane” zones while investigating the “Nightmare Files” – cases that bleed the line between crime fighting and occult investigation.
Mechanically, this is a Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) setting. You will need the core rules to play, which are available on DriveThruRPG.
For those who want to patrol the streets before committing, there is a free Jumpstart available. Titled The Screams of Emily Wicklow, this 23-page PDF includes a complete adventure, four pre-generated vigilante heroes, and a taste of the setting’s new rules.

Dog House Rules has structured the campaign with digital and Print-on-Demand (POD) options in mind. The project is already fully funded.
- Pledge $9 (approx. £7): The Citizen tier gets you the PDF of the Core Book and Character Sheet.
- Pledge $19 (approx. £14): The Newsie tier includes the PDFs plus the option to buy the Print-on-Demand core book at cost.
