Crunchyroll has confirmed that the chaos and charm of the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid franchise is making its way to the big screen.

The feature film, titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved, is set for a strictly limited theatrical engagement in the UK on 4th and 5th March 2026.
Produced by the acclaimed Kyoto Animation, the film marks the first time the series’ signature blend of “found family” dynamics and supernatural slice-of-life comedy has been adapted for the big screen. The story shifts focus toward the dragon child Kanna Kamui, whose peaceful life in the human world is upended by the arrival of her father, Kimun Kamui. As the leader of the Chaos faction, he demands her return to the Dragon World, forcing Kanna to choose between her biological heritage and the human family she has built with Miss Kobayashi and Tohru.
The production maintains the high-calibre staff associated with the television series, directed by Tatsuya Ishihara with a screenplay by Yuka Yamada. The late Yasuhiro Takemoto is also credited as Series Director, honouring the foundational work laid during the franchise’s earlier development.

The theatrical release is a joint venture between Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Fans can expect the film to run for 105 minutes, presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
For those needing to catch up on the draconic domesticity before the March premiere, both seasons of the television anime remain available on the Crunchyroll streaming platform.
