Onyx Path Publishing, the tabletop RPG powerhouse formed to keep the World of Darkness and Exalted flames burning, has reached a significant milestone. The publisher is now 15 years old. To mark the occasion, founder Rich Thomas has shared a 2026 roadmap and noted OPP’s presence in the DriveThruRPG “New Year, New Game” sale, with prices slashed on core titles.

It is a survival story as much as a success story. In an industry where publishers come and go with the seasons, Onyx Path has transitioned from a licensee of White Wolf properties to a creator of its own diverse universes, including Pugmire and the Trinity Continuum.
Rich Thomas, who founded the company with the hope of restoring classic game lines, admitted the longevity came as a surprise.
I truly never expected that I’d be fortunate enough to still be creating worlds and drawing monsters when I founded Onyx Path all those years ago. I just had a lot of hope that we could restore a bunch of old game lines, and create a bunch of new ones, and that you would all like them!”
The “New Year, New Game” Sale
The anniversary celebrations are kicking off with a practical benefit for gamers: cheap books.
Starting Tuesday, January 6th, Onyx Path has joined the “New Year, New Game” sale. The publisher has discounted nearly all of its Core Rulebooks and Jumpstarts by at least 50%.
If you have been waiting to try out a new system, this is the time to jump in. The sale includes their digital catalogue, making it a low-risk way to test-drive the Storypath system or dive into the Chronicles of Darkness.
The Road Ahead: 2026 Releases
Alongside the retrospective, the Onyx Path team highlighted several key projects in the 2026 pipeline.
Curseborne is a major focus. The modern horror RPG, which uses the new Storypath Ultra engine, is heading for a full retail release. “Getting Curseborne printed and in stores… all of it book, screen, dice, all that jazz,” is a priority for Mirthful Mike, noting that the team is working with a new printer to get traditional books rolling out again.
Other highlights for the year include:
- Realms of Pugmire: Eddy Webb is preparing Lair of the Rat Kings, the next major campaign for the fantasy-dog setting, which explores “the Underneath”.
- The Earthbane Cycle: Matthew Dawkins confirmed that Monster Kingdoms is in progress, and teased that another game in the cycle with a “very different tone” is currently under review.
- Storypath Ultra: The core manual for Onyx Path’s house system is making its way to backers soon.
- Scarred Lands: The Player’s Guide for Savage Worlds is set for release to backers and the public.
Changes to Twitch and Media
Regular viewers of the Onyx Path Twitch channel will notice a change in how schedules are handled. The publisher is discontinuing weekly graphic schedules on its blog. Instead, the schedule will live directly on their Twitch channel page.
Travis Legge, who manages the media side, noted that while the weekly blog graphics are gone, special events and new show launches will still get their own announcements.
Scion God Players’ Guide Released
Finally, for fans of epic modern mythology, the Scion God Players’ Guide has arrived. The book is available now in PDF and Print-on-Demand. It expands the scope of Scion, allowing players to take their characters to the highest tiers of divinity.
You can grab the Scion God Players’ Guide and browse the rest of the anniversary sale at DriveThruRPG.
