The Storytellers Vault is the sister site to DriveThruRPG and DMsGuild, dedicated to the World of Darkness, Exalted, and Chronicles of Darkness.
After analysing the indie hits of DriveThruRPG and the utility-driven market of the DMsGuild, we turn our eyes to the darker corners of the catalogue.
The 2025 data for the Storytellers Vault reveals a unique marketplace. Unlike its sister sites, which are teeming with third-party community creators, the Vault’s best-seller list is dominated by established powerhouses and a thriving trade in single digital cards.

The most startling takeaway is the dominance of Black Chantry Productions. The Platinum best-seller of the year wasn’t a book; it was a single card. Black Chantry produces Vampire: The Eternal Struggle (VTES), the long-running card game. They use the Storytellers Vault to sell print-on-demand cards directly to players. This “DLC for cards” model is highly effective, driving volume that rivals that of full RPG books.
Unlike DMsGuild, which is defined by community creators like MandyMod, the Storytellers Vault 2025 chart is dominated by official publishers. Onyx Path Publishing, Renegade Game Studios, and Black Chantry account for almost every spot on the list. This suggests the platform functions less as a “fan fiction” community and more as a direct digital storefront for the stewards of the World of Darkness and Exalted brands.
Why is this chart in a new format?
Long-time readers might spot that this year’s best-seller breakdown looks a little different. In the past, the teams at DriveThruRPG and Roll20 provided us with official, genre-sorted data. That support wasn’t available this year, but we didn’t want the tradition to die.
Instead, we manually tracked the public ‘metal’ sales badges across the Storytellers Vault. It was a labour of love involving hundreds of open tabs and careful cross-referencing of 2025 releases. If you want to know exactly how we built these charts and see the massive indie hits that dominated the bigger sister site, you can read the full methodology in our unofficial DriveThruRPG best-sellers report.
