The first teaser trailer for Normal has just dropped from Magnolia Pictures, and promises some dark, gritty, unhinged action when an entire small town seems to turn on its new sheriff – who only wanted a bit of peace.
Directed by Ben Wheatley (Meg 2: The Trench), and starring Bob Odenkirk as the fateful sheriff, who arrives in what first appears to be a peaceful place to work… things start to get really nasty, really quickly.
According to the official synopsis:
For Sheriff Ulysses (Bob Odenkirk), his provisional posting to the quaint Midwestern American town of Normal was meant to be a welcome respite from both his marital woes and recent moral injuries in the line of duty.
But when a botched bank robbery interrupts the municipality’s tranquil pace, a sordid secret is inadvertently exposed and Ulysses learns the town is anything but its namesake. Suddenly everyone is trying to shoot the sheriff, even his own deputies, and our put-upon policeman must rely on his affable mettle and some motley crooks if he is to survive the night. (That’s all before the Yakuza show up).

Normal also features Lena Heady, Henry Winkler, Ryan Allen, Billy MacLellan, Brendan Fletcher, Reena Jolly, Peter Shinkoda, and Jess McLeod.
The film was written by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad and Odenkirk, as well as being produced by Marc Provissiero, Kolstad, and Odenkirk. Got to say, I’m quite excited about this one!
And you’ll be able to watch Normal when it’s released in cinemas from 17th April, 2026.
