Swords and sorcery strategy game Battlemarked has received a significant update, less than a month after its initial launch. The patch, version 2.0.27770, addresses one of the most vocal community requests regarding single-player party composition, whilst simultaneously introducing a limited-time holiday event.

The headline feature of this update is a complete overhaul of the hireling system for solo players. Previously, lone adventurers were forced to fill their ranks with generic hirelings. Now, players can construct full parties consisting entirely of their own custom heroes. This change applies retroactively to existing saves, allowing for full experience point gain and progression support across a tailored team.
For those playing cooperatively, the update brings quality-of-life improvements to multiplayer management. Parties can now reassign control of hirelings both on the map and within levels, and turn order can be adjusted – a crucial tactical element in strategy RPGs.
To mark the season, the update introduces the “Holiday Side Quest“. Players venturing into the Crown of Frost can visit the Ramshackle Inn to meet Dwelf Jollykeg. Completing his festive delivery mission unlocks a unique holiday dice skin.
Technical improvements include fixes for the ‘Confused’ status effect, ensuring confused units only attack adjacent targets and cease attacks while incapacitated. A bug causing the final boss of the Crown of Frost to damage itself has also been squashed.

For those uninitiated, Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked is a tactical turn-based RPG developed by Resolution Games in collaboration with Wizards of the Coast. Launched in November 2025, it marries the accessible, card-driven mechanics of the popular Demeo virtual tabletop with the rich lore of the Forgotten Realms. The game simulates the tactile feel of a physical roleplaying session (complete with painted miniatures and polyhedral dice) supporting cross-platform cooperative play for up to four adventurers on PC, PlayStation 5, and VR devices.
