I rather liked the looks of Tree Bee Games’ 12×22 neoprene 5e playmats, but there’s a week on the crowdfunding clock and we’re going to need a pile in to hit the $10,000 goal.
On offer are D&D 5e rule summaries printed on neoprene (plastic) mats commonly used in some fantasy card games. The use-case for 5e isn’t just handy rules but a surface to reduce dice clatter and to protect the table. You can back the project on Kickstarter.
The playmats include information such as;
- Skills
- Ability Scores
- Class Features
- Spell Slots
- Weapon Mastery
- The info you need to create 1st-level characters
The 12 original classes will each have their own playmat, and perhaps that’s the drawback, because it’s a lot of neoprene to order for the full set.
No AI was used.
How many times do you crack open a Player’s handbook to reference something for your character? Too many times to count and even more when you gain a level! Our new playmats are a quick (CliffNotes) guide that stays right in front of you. While not doing away with the books, this timesaver minimizes “let me look it up” delays!

At $9, backers unlock the digital reward, and that’s a PDF of all 12 of the mat designs plus any stretch goals.
Those who want only one playmat can back the project at $22, but Tree Bee can only ship to certain countries.
There are economies of scale as backers at $60 (about £46) get three different playmats of their choice. Right now, the early-bird tier is still open, and the same reward unlocks at $54.
At $108, backers get their choice of 6 D&D playmats, and it’s $204, another slight saving, for all 12.
There are higher tiers, perhaps for clubs or well-to-do DMs who want to have a sheet for everyone in the game, even if the same character class appears twice in the group.
The estimated delivery if the campaign is successful is March 2026, and there’s only until November 10th to make that happen.
