Looney Labs has released Cat Fluxx, the latest and furriest version of its iconic card game, and is using the launch to spotlight the solo play rules now available for the entire Fluxx series.

While the solo rules have been available for a little while, the release of this charming new edition presents a perfect opportunity for both veteran fans and curious newcomers to try the one-player experience.
Cat Fluxx, which arrived in stores this September, is a feline-themed take on the game of ever-changing rules. Players will find themselves collecting cat-centric Keepers like a Ball of Yarn or a Cardboard Box while trying to avoid Creeper cards such as the dreaded Vacuum Cleaner. In a move that cleverly blends the game with reality, a new rule card called ‘Live Cat Bonus’ gives all players an extra draw and play if there is an actual, living cat in the room.
The big news for the wider Fluxx ecosystem is the renewed focus on its solo mode. The official rules, available on the Looney Labs website, are compatible with all 40+ versions of the game. This means that an existing collection of Fluxx games just gained significant replayability, and for those who have never tried the game due to a lack of opponents, there’s now a compelling reason to jump in. If you’re looking for an excuse to get a deck and try it out, Cat Fluxx is available from Amazon.
The core gameplay of Fluxx remains as delightfully chaotic as ever. It starts with a simple “draw one, play one” rule, but cards played throughout the game introduce new rules, actions, and constantly shifting goals, ensuring no two games are ever the same.
Kristin Looney, CEO and co-founder of Looney Labs, commented on the new release,
Cat Fluxx can be enjoyed by everyone, allergies or not! We have 9 adorable cats in need of new homes in each copy of Cat Fluxx and we’re hoping you will adopt them for your future game nights!”
Game designer and co-founder Andrew Looney highlighted the thematic elements.
Cat Fluxx has thematic new Actions and New Rules, such as The Zoomies, Testing Gravity, The Cat Distribution System, and Meow Hear This. But the best might just be the Live Cat Bonus… Suddenly, everyone will be watching the cat’s every move, hoping it won’t leave the room!”
Designed for 1 to 6 players aged eight and up, with a playtime of 10 to 30 minutes, Cat Fluxx is an ideal, portable game for families and gamers looking for quick, unpredictable fun.
