New York Comic Con has thrown open its doors for 2025, and with the crowds has come a deluge of announcements for anime, comic, and collectable fans.

Streaming giant Crunchyroll revealed a packed slate of new and returning series. At the same time, indie comic publishers Bad Idea and Hero Tomorrow tempted attendees with exclusives, and Mondo showcased its latest premium collectables.
The biggest anime news came from Crunchyroll, which confirmed it will be the streaming home for the highly anticipated third season of [OSHI NO KO] this winter. The platform also treated fans to the world premiere of a new trailer for Daemons of the Shadow Realm, an adaptation of the manga from Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa. Aniplex producer Sota Furuhashi was on stage to confirm the series will debut on Crunchyroll in April 2026.
Further cinematic plans were announced, with Crunchyroll acquiring the worldwide theatrical rights for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea. The film, a standalone story animated by studio 8-Bit, will be distributed in cinemas by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment at a later date.
The anime service also confirmed second seasons for A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special and The Beginning After the End. For the latter, creator TurtleMe appeared in a video message to confirm the new season is in production and will feature an original story, premiering in Spring 2026. A host of new acquisitions were also revealed, including A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation, Isekai Office Worker: The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter, Kunon the Sorcerer Can See, and The Daily Life of a Single 29-Year-Old Adventurer.
On the convention floor, indie comics publisher Bad Idea is making a significant splash at Booth 4451. The publisher announced a series of ultra-limited exclusives, including deluxe hardcovers of THE ENDS, HANK HOWARD, PIZZA DETECTIVE, and THE HERO TRADE, each limited to only 50 copies. The most significant reveal, however, came during their panel, where it was announced that the upcoming crime series Ordained is already set for a film adaptation. Derek Kolstad, the creator of the John Wick franchise, is attached to write the screenplay. The panel also gave attendees a first look at a new title, WARBIRD.
The publisher has also coordinated a packed signing schedule featuring industry heavyweights like Joe Quesada, Declan Shalvey, Alex Maleev, and Rod Reis.
Nearby at booth #2049, Hero Tomorrow Comics is debuting a convention-exclusive gold foil cover of Punchline and The Vaude-Villains #3, marking the first appearance of the character Violante The Undead.
For collectors, Mondo is hosting a “Mondo Toy Talk Live” panel on Friday, October 10th, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their sought-after products. Senior Creative Directors Hector Arce and Peter Santa-Maria are among the panellists. The brand is also offering NYCC-exclusive posters and vinyl records for properties including Marvel’s Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Superman, and the classic thriller Jaws.
