Son of Oak has released a free tool to help roleplayers bring their Dungeons & Dragons 5e characters into the world of Legend in the Mist. This move follows the TTRPG’s successful digital debut and the launch of its community content program.

The Legend in the Mist – 5e Crossover Tool, available now on DriveThruRPG, provides a framework for translating characters and stories from the world’s most famous roleplaying game into Son of Oak’s Mist Engine. It is designed to lower the barrier to entry for the vast number of players already familiar with 5e’s mechanics.
This release is the latest step in building a robust ecosystem around the new game. As Geek Native reported, Legend in the Mist‘s digital launch saw it performing strongly on the DTRPG charts, even challenging high-profile releases like Daggerheart. Shortly after, the publisher announced a community content program, enabling third-party creators to publish their own material for the game. This crossover tool now directly invites the 5e player base to migrate their established heroes and campaigns.
The guide allows groups to convert their entire party for a one-shot or a full campaign in the misty world of rustic towns and untold legends. It also suggests players can clone their 5e characters to play solo side-stories, using the Mist Engine to flesh out backstories between their regular D&D sessions. The tool maps abilities, spells, and other concepts from the 5.1 System Reference Document (SRD) to the Legend in the Mist ruleset.
For players curious about the system, the free utility also serves as a practical introduction, using a player’s existing knowledge of 5e as a foundation to explain how Legend in the Mist works.
