Harnessing the immense popularity of Larian Studios’ computer game and the recent confirmation of a sequel, DMsGuild has announced its Premiere Game Jam, a challenge for third-party D&D creators to write new content for the iconic city of Baldur’s Gate. The initiative encourages designers to develop short supplements, providing a platform and marketing support for both new and veteran creators looking to make their mark on the famous Forgotten Realms location.

The Game Jam calls for submissions of 25 pages or less, which can be standalone adventures or gameplay tools designed to enhance a Baldur’s Gate campaign, such as encounter tables or location generators. The submission window opens on 1st October and closes on 2nd November 2025, with all qualifying entries being released simultaneously in a coordinated launch on 4th November.
In a move that will be welcomed by many in the creative community, the rules explicitly state that AI-generated images and writing are not allowed. Submissions must be compatible with D&D’s 5th Edition rules, whether that’s the 2014 original or the 2024 revised rulebooks.
To support participants, DMsGuild is partnering with the Storytelling Collective, an online learning platform known for its popular RPG Writer Workshop. This collaboration will provide creators with access to workshops, Q&A sessions, and expert advice. Scheduled events include a session on “Why Baldur’s Gate is Awesome” with Fall of Elturel author Anthony Joyce-Rivera, and a pre-recorded workshop with Jason Evans Payne, creator of the D&D 2014 to 2024 Conversion Guide. Participants in the Game Jam will also receive discounts on Storytelling Collective’s online courses.
The timing of the Game Jam is significant. It capitalises on the cultural footprint of Baldur’s Gate 3 and follows recent reports from outlets like ScreenRant, where Wizards of the Coast President John Hight confirmed that a Baldur’s Gate 4 will happen, stating, “Of course, we’re going to do a successor.” While Larian Studios has confirmed they will not be developing the sequel, Wizards of the Coast is clearly invested in the future of the franchise, making this Game Jam a timely opportunity for creators to engage with the setting.
Creators wishing to participate are asked to upload their finished content to DMsGuild, but keep it private, allowing the platform to manage the public launch. Roll20’s Discord server will offer community support, writing sprints, and office hours for technical guidance.
The primary benefit of publishing on DMsGuild is the license to use Wizards of the Coast’s intellectual property, from specific settings and characters to the core 5th Edition rules. This Game Jam adds a coordinated marketing push, with DMsGuild promising to feature the creations in its newsletter, on social media, and through banners on the marketplace’s front page.
