This November, the NEC in Birmingham is set to host MCM Comic Con, and a veritable pantheon of voice acting talent has been confirmed to appear. The convention, which runs from 28 to 30 November, has announced guests from some of the most popular video games and animated series currently captivating geek culture audiences, including stars from Baldur’s Gate 3, the Hellaverse, and the legendary voice of Mario.

Headlining the video game side of things is Neil Newbon, the English actor who earned a BAFTA nomination for his work as the fan-favourite vampire rogue Astarion in the gargantuan hit Baldur’s Gate 3. Astarion’s captivating character arc, from cynical scoundrel to a potential hero or villain, was a standout feature of the game, and Newbon‘s performance was lauded by fans and critics alike. Newbon‘s impressive resume also includes roles in games such as Detroit: Become Human and Final Fantasy XVI. He is scheduled to be at the event on Friday and Saturday for autographs and photo ops, and will also host a panel on Friday.
Joining him from the world of games is Nadji Jeter, the actor behind the voice and motion capture for Miles Morales in the PlayStation games Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. His performance in the latter earned him a BAFTA Video Game Award for ‘Performer in a Leading Role’. Jeter, who has also appeared in The Last of Us and the Grown Ups films, will be available for all three days of the convention.
Another iconic voice from the gaming world making an appearance is Charles Martinet, the original voice of Nintendo’s Mario. Martinet, who voiced the character from 1991 until 2023, is the man responsible for the famous “It’s a me, Mario!” catchphrase that has become a staple of gaming history. He also voiced other well-known characters in the Super Mario franchise, including Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi, and the dragon Paarthurnax in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Martinet will be at MCM Birmingham for the entire weekend, with a panel scheduled for Saturday.
Animation fans will be pleased to see the convention leaning heavily into the “Hellaverse,” the shared universe of the animated shows Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. The creator of both series, Vivienne Medrano (also known as Vivziepop), is set to attend all three days, where she will be available for autographs and photos. She is joined by actors Alex Brightman and Brandon Rogers. Brightman voices Fizzaroli in Helluva Boss, a character he imbues with a theatrical flourish. At the same time, Rogers provides the voice for Blitzo in the same series and Katie Killjoy in Hazbin Hotel. The trio is scheduled to appear on a panel called ‘Into the Hellaverse’ on Sunday.
From the world of anime, the English voice actors from the hit series Jujutsu Kaisen are also on the bill. Nicholas Roye, known for his role as the ‘Sorcerer Killer’, Toji Fushiguro, and Matthew David Rudd, who voices Panda and the cursed spirit Hanami, will be attending the event all weekend for autographs and photo opportunities.
It’s worth noting that while MCM Birmingham’s lineup is strong, it’s not to be confused with the MCM London Comic Con in October, which has its own exciting guest list. That event, which runs from 24 to 26 October, will feature the new cast of Rick and Morty and several voice actors from Hazbin Hotel.
