Hatchlings Games is completing their award-winning tabletop RPG, which teaches British and American sign language and is suitable for kids. All pledge levels unlock a free PDF of the core game.
The third book in the series is Underisles, which sends the young Pendragons, yep, underground. On lizards. You can see progress on the pitch page.
The TTRPG was made in collaboration with the deaf community, has already won awards, and goes on in Underisles to encourage empathy and cooperation. Grok would hate it.
Characters in the game are teenage descendants of the legendary Arthur and Guinevere and in a pact with the fey. As a result, they’ve a mythical version of Great Britain and Ireland to explore and quest.
The trilogy offers a wealth of sign language material, serving as a vibrant introduction to ASL and BSL. Paired with online video tutorials crafted by Hatchings Games, these tabletop adventures are designed to inspire players to pursue a professional course and deepen their journey into the world of sign language. Well. That’s the pitch.
Donning their spelunking gear, Pendragons will swap the giant herons of OVERISLES for salamanders as they explore a labyrinth of caverns and submerged lakes. Guided by the Inspired Athelyn, they will once again work together to overcome obstacles and battle dangerous creatures on their passage to the miners. While they search, the surface far above is becoming unstable, with tremors and landslides becoming a frequent occurrence. It’s almost like something is trying to break free!

Backers at £15 will get the Underisles PDF as a reward and, as Hatchlings said, the Inspirisles RPG is also in that tier.
At £25, the second book Overisles is also added as a digital edition. That’s three books.
For backers who prefer paper, the £30 tier unlocks the Underisles hardcover and, of course, the Inspirisles PDF is included. Shipping and packaging costs are not and need to be added later, but Hatchling have extended the list of countries they will send the game to since the Kickstarter launched.
Backers who want all three books in hardback have the £70 tier, and here’s the £100 option, which includes the Shapes of Adventure anthology, flashcards, character sheets, and dice.
The estimated delivery for the game is in May 2026, although the digital edition of Inspirisles will come as soon as the project funds. Underisles is three times over goal so funding seems likely and Hatchlings Games have given us until the 14th of August to back the project.
