A new Superman character featurette has just dropped from Warner Bros. and DC Studios, and this time the focus is on Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Hoult is actually quite a diverse actor when it comes to some of the roles he’s played, and now he’s bringing one of the most iconic villains to life with a sharp look and dastardly deeds, by the looks of it!
From the footage, we can tell Hoult seems to have taken delight in playing the villain and getting into the workings of the Luthor mindset.

Interestingly, the actor had previously screen-tested for both Batman in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and for Superman himself – but it never quite worked out.
Here’s what Hoult had to say about that:
It’s funny, because when I first read the script, I remember reading it and there was a little inkling part of me that was like ‘Oh, I think you would have fun playing Lex.’
And I kind of didn’t say anything, and then when James [Gunn] called me to play Lex, I did kind of cackle – I think is how I’d describe it.
I didn’t say anything. I think he said, ‘We want you to play Lex,’ and I just laughed, because I think there was something in my instinct, when I first read the script, where I was like, ‘I think that’s more what I should be doing in this story.'”
From what I’ve seen, I’m loving how it all seems to be shaping up.
And you’ll be able to watch Superman when it’s out in cinemas on 11th July!
