Bonsart Bokel is no stranger to Kickstarter and Nightwatch is their fifth campaign. However, they might still be better known for the YouTube channel Radio Retrofuture.
Nightwatch is a steampunk tabletop RPG set in a “universe of cosmic mystery”. It is yet to reach its Kickstarter target, and the campaign closes on July 3rd.
Characters are Operators from factions who explore alien and other worlds now accessible via rifts. The world is based on Bonsart’s The Association of Ishtar series.
The campaign covers the core rulebook and player guide, featuring original art, and the physical books created stand a good chance of being Kickstarter exclusives. However, and slightly counterintuitively, if the Kickstarter does well then this won’t be the case.
NIGHTWATCH is a system intended to be enjoyed by veterans and newbies alike. Although Nightwatch has similarities to Savage Worlds, we used board game mechanics for inspiration to keep the flow of the game high and mechanical frustrations low. Essentially, we removed all the number crunching and calculus. This resulted in a system that provides the players a lot of agency while the PM has full control over any challenge.

The core rule book in digital unlocks as a reward for backers at €30 (about £26), which also comes with digital card sets to print and play with.
The player handbook for Nightwatch and the basic Fortune Card set is the reward at €31. At €36, backers get that and the digital edition as well.
Both the main rulebooks for Nightwatch are available for €50. There is also a separate Hero Mini STL set available for backers who invest €50.
Nightwatch’s core rules, The Puppet Master Guide, are the reward at €55. Once again, the digital edition is added at the next tier up, which is €60.
A popular tier is €73, which gets the two core PDFs and the extra digital books Rising Tide and Commonwealth Report, plus digital cards.
Both the Nightwatch main books are the backer’s reward at €80. Following this, several tiers offer additional minis, bundle combos, and retailer options.
There is some variance in when the tiers are expected to ship, but most are scheduled for around January 2026.
