The third book in Jennifer Masters‘ educational introduction to RPGs series, The Adventurer’s Apprentice, launched at the UK Games Expo 2025.

The Unicorn Heist follows The Mysterious Egg and The Itchy Dragon with an interactive story that uses a d6.
Jennifer Masters told Geek Native that she created the game because her toddler was keen to play D&D but wasn’t ready for it yet, and neither could Jennifer find anything suitable for kids. So, she created her own adventure.
Each book in the series encourages creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration between the Reader and the Apprentice(s) and, therefore, is a handy educational tool. The recommended age for The Unicorn Heist and the other books in The Adventurer’s Apprentice line is four and up.
Failure, or at least setbacks, are possible in the game. The dice roll determines whether an idea is successful, but the whole concept is that there’s always another try, and sometimes things not going as planned is not always a bad outcome.
The series is available on Amazon, where the description says;
Step into an exciting world where your choices shape the adventure! In this imaginative RPG-inspired book, young readers take on the role of an apprentice adventurer, rolling a 6-sided die and using their creativity to navigate challenges, solve puzzles, and uncover surprises.

If you’re attending the Expo this weekend, you can speak with Jennifer and browse the books at booth 4-B34.
