Para Bellum told fans in advance, with the news of the Tommy gun-wielding fish Peaky Flounder, that they would be making an announcement on Saturday at the UK Games Expo.
At 11am, Daryl McKay, the marketing and sales boss for the Greece-based wargame and skirmisher maker, pulled back the black curtain off the display stand to reveal a poster for the Weaver Courts.
The Weaver Courts will be the 10th faction for Conquest and the second faction announced this year. Earlier this year, the Yoroni were released during GAMA.
Para Bellum’s press release explained how the Weaver Courts fit into the Conquest lore.
Estranged cousins to the Spires, the Weavers were those Exiles who refused to turn to Biomancy, instead viewing the world of Eӓ as a gift, to be treasured and nurtured. Venerating their natural gift of Life-Binding, they bonded themselves with the life around them, forming four seasonal courts to match their different dispositions. Now, with bodies merged with those of animals, plants, insects and even the elements themselves, the first teases promise an army of otherworldly elegance, combining eerie beauty to the cold, pragmatic violence of the natural law.
The Weaver Courts reward strategic play. Success comes from finding synergies between units, which are further influenced by the different seasonal Courts. The army’s core tactic involves using ranged units to mark enemies, thereby enabling powerful combos with their melee counterparts for an agile and interwoven assault.

This tactic is executed by the Weavers, a unique take on the elusive, ranged skirmisher. Unlike traditional ranged units, they don’t rely on firepower for victory. Instead, their ranged attacks are powerful enablers that apply a universal Mark to enemies. This Mark acts like a planted seed, allowing swift melee allies to close in, exploit the advantage, and complete the combo. Depending on your Faction Rules, Supremacies, or Spells, this Mark can then blossom into a variety of devastating effects.
Para Bellum Founder and Creative Director, Stavros Halkias said;

Not all ambushes are bad, eh? We had said that the Weavers will be released when we feel that we can do justice to their concept. Now, I believe in their design fully. Conceptually and technically, we have reached the point where we can confidently say that the Weavers will be on your tables as we always had envisioned them. So why wait?”
The Weaver Courts have been teased for a while but a spokesperson for Para Bellum at UKGE told Geek Native the company was prepared to wait to get the art, the look and feel, of the new faction right. How do they look? “Brutal fae”, is one phrase.
For Conquest players, Weaver Court minis are on the way and starting with a limited-edition preview model due for Gen Con in Indianapolis this July.
