ZineQuest is coming back to Kickstarter and will run in February. Publisher Murkdice are clearly on the ball as they’ve already released a free to download quickstart for their contribution Void Above.
The game will be a standalone hard-sci about Spacers who take contracts requiring teamwork and brains. For example, Spacers might be employed to complete business negotiations or the more familiar space station scavenging missions with which many players will be familiar.
In the Void Above setting, there is no faster-than-light travel and no artificial gravity. This is a sci-fi world in which technology cannot answer all the challenges and where basics like oxygen need to be managed carefully.
The Void Above game engine uses d6s and skills; players must roll low to succeed, and there are partial successes. The system has both Injury and Stress systems and rules for Gear that reward people for picking the right tools.
The quickstart has 4 pre-genned characters, all the rules needed for one or two sessions and a pre-written scenario to provide just that.
