It may be the most anticipated game in the UK for 2023/2024, but some Starfield fans have been getting a little twitchy, following the sudden and inexplicable cancellation of their Constellation Edition pre-orders – whilst others are begging for fixes before the game’s official release.
With a huge game universe to explore, stunning visuals, space cats, and the whole design-your-own-starship thing, it’s no wonder gamers are considering Bethesda‘s deep-space exploration game to be potential Game of the Year material.
However, some fans who pre-ordered the Constellation Edition have been receiving notifications causing them to think their order has been cancelled – without any explanation.
Fans have been taking to Reddit in their droves to debate what’s actually going on, with one user (Beltaine-7716) sharing their cancellation details and saying: “I’m more than a little concerned about the order update I just got”. The tracking information in the post shows the order as voided.
Others chimed in, seemingly also having received the strange order update:
Same and mine was ordered an hour after the direct on June 11th shenanigans are afoot. Hopefully, this is some error and not a mass cancellation.
And:
Same thing happened to me…it doesn’t say cancelled…just competitive price match?
Also:
I just received the same thing…either it’s an error or they won’t have enough on hand and the order was technically cancelled.
However, this does only seem to be affecting those who have ordered the PC version of the Constellation Edition, with nothing being reported from Xbox consumers not reporting any issues as of yet.
So, what’s going on? At the moment, it’s hard to tell whether it’s just a supplier issue, or something deeper. Have you been affected by this? Let us know.
Fans begging for a fix before the game is even released
It’s not the best week for Starfield, as not only have there been grumblings about the in-game economy seemingly having major issues (going by burger-based calculations from fans) but now there’s also a huge issue with the game’s heads up display.
Thanks to Reddit user parsajaghi12, who posted in r/Starfield subreddit with the question, and screenshot highlighting the issue: “Does the XP bar annoy the hell out of you guys too[?],”
The XP bar, for reasons unknown, appears right in the centre of the screen.
They weren’t the only one to have an opinion:
“It’s very weird – the entire HUD has a super sleek and minimal look that helps getting immersed in the world around you – and then the XP bar shows in the centre of your view so often. I just find it to be a really weird UI design choice,” renboy2 chimed in.
User Xae-Blackrose said: “I do not mind an XP bar, nor do I mind seeing it. However, I do mind when it is in the middle of my HUD. Put that s**t on the bottom or top, or a corner. Anywhere but the middle.”
Another user pointed out that in some instances of gameplay, the XP bar did NOT appear after enemies were killed – and surmised there may be an option to turn it off. This is all just theory at the moment, based on the footage available, though.
