Tomorrow will be a day to reflect, nurture mental health and show solidarity if some Wizards of the Coast employees persuade others to protect, or comment on, Hasbro’s stance on Roe vs. Wade.
A Twitter account called Wizards for Justice has been set up to represent, it claims, WotC workers who are disappointed with Hasbro’s response to the civil rights rollback in the States.
In America, the Supreme Court has dropped its protection of a woman’s right to get an abortion. States have already banned the medical procedure.
It’s an odd and terrible thing to be writing about from Europe, but in the States, the right to abortion has become a political tribe and religious battle. There’s lots of anger and even misinformation over the emotional treatment. Weirdly, those who oppose abortion also tend to be the political conservatives who oppose Governmental bans on other things people can do.
In response to the religiously extreme States making the sometimes life-saving procedure a crime, several large companies have stepped forward with financial support packages for employees who need to travel elsewhere for the treatment. Hasbro has not.
The Wizards for Justice group don’t say “strike” or call for a boycott. There might well be the implied suggestion that staff are elsewhere tomorrow and a nudge towards speaking up to let the big corporation know that a better ethical direction is needed.

Hasbro is smart to stay out of politics. Every company should. If a company wants to help out it’s employees it can, quietly, without a public declaration. Ask Netflix and Disney how getting political worked out for them. Oh, and I’m pro choice. You just need to be smart about it.
Isn’t inaction and/or silence just as much a political position as action and opinion?
