Impressive Star Wars galaxy map

February 23, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This map is worth checking out. It’s not often you get sci-fi maps and even less often do they attempt to chart out a whole galaxy. That whole maps are 2d and galaxies are 3d thing tends to be the problem. Back in 2009 Dark House and LucasFilms tackled this challenge for Star Wars: The […]

February 22, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I hope you’re not reading this from work because there are swear words here. You do have to feel for Ceres though. It’s had a tough ride over the last hundred or so years. If only it had a Twitter account when it mattered. What do you think? If you were Ceres PR agent what […]

Our first spaceship shields are likely to be magnetic

July 28, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Magnetic energy is pretty strong. We’ve all see it overcome gravity. In fact, as New Scientist is quick to point out; it’s a magnetic force that shields the planet from solar destruction. Since magnetic forces are something we understand, can manipulate and are powerful it seems like it’s not too crazy to speculate that the […]
