TARS cosplay is Interstellar

April 7, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

I think TARS may well have been my favourite bit in Interstellar. I’m not saying that to knock the film, I rather liked it… but TARS was a scene stealer! This cosplay took some 3 months to build and was shown at Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con this year. It won the “One to Watch” […]

Horse cosplay? Just add Dovahkiin

March 12, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Some cosplayers know how to make that extra effort and blow us away. Step forward Elwenae – or should I say “ride forward” – as this cosplay set up includes an armoured horse. Skyrim’s a game that’s carved a deep niche for itself in geek culture. Years later; we still recognise it. Wow. (Via Fashionably […]

Team Beat Down Boogie went to Katsucon and, as is their way, have produced a highlight video of some of the best and most interesting cosplay. This cut is about 10 minutes long and called “Pretty Strange”. I think there are some great costumes in here. Fancy a look at the pictures? There’s a collection […]

Geek natives get married Fallout style

February 17, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Chris Love and Kara Kyser are geek natives. You can tell because this awesome couple got married post-apocalyptic style with a Fallout wedding! The photographs were taken by Joshua Hoffine, who should now see his order book bloom, at Belvoir Winery in Missouri. The story appeared at Buzzfeed where Love said; We’re both geeks. Kara […]

Space Pirate Captain Harlock is a popular anime character who has seen many different evolutions through the ages. Most recently there’s a live-action movie and you can see the poster for that. This isn’t a Space Pirate Captain Harlock this is the mysterious Kei Yuki with a perfect space pirate outfit. You can see more […]

Shiny metal Valkyrie cosplay

January 21, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This impressive cosplay is by Maid of Might. Here we see more than just fabric being used; there’s actual metal in this costume. Perhaps not quite armour but impressive never the less. It’s pretty uncommon to see lights reflecting in any cosplay. The costume and the photography here are top notch. I’m not sure every […]

Rule 63 Bilbo Baggins

January 18, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Look at those feet! This is cosplayer and deviant artist Aishafee and about 3 months worth of work. According to the artist the most challening aspect of the cosplay was Sting. It took months to find the right sort of sword. I’m impressed.
