Geeky music videos

Welcome to the Music category, where we turn up the volume on the sounds of geek culture. This is your destination for epic gaming soundtracks, synthwave scores, chiptune artists, and bands whose lyrics are inspired by our favourite fandoms. We celebrate the music that provides the backdrop to our adventures, from the sweeping orchestrations of a fantasy epic to the pulsing beats of a cyberpunk future.

We have a special appreciation for the visual side of music, and this section is always on the lookout for clever, creative, and unapologetically geeky music videos. If a song tells a story or an artist has a unique vision, you'll likely find their videos featured here. Tune in and discover your next geek anthem.

September 19, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

French funkmeisters Daft Punk make their first appearance  in a computer game with Activision‘s DJ Hero. In this YouTube ad we see the duo mix some old school British rock with Queen’s “We Will Rock you”. What do you think? Does your budget and shelf space stretch to another “Hero” music game? Lucky Star: Fan video shows dancing Hiiragi sisters

September 16, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

We’re all now used to the wealth of impressive anime fan art but what about some impressive fan video? I don’t just mean a slideshow of stills from the anime set to some good music – I mean a CG animation of the Hiiragi sisters from Lucky Star dancing a way. It’s a slight shame […]

The cosplay get up was part of a McG (Supernatural and Terminator: Salvation director) video which, according to reports will appear in London’s Tate Modern later this year. Dunst is no stranger to anime as she supplied the voice for the […]

August 26, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Sci Fi Wire have posted a Sony widget that lets you sample some of the District 9 score. I’m going to find the time to go see the movie after it launches in the UK (early September) but I suspect the score is worth grabbing of iTunes and using a gamer backdrop music.

LEGO music video – 1500 hours of moving bricks

August 24, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This is what you get if you’re prepared to spend 1500 hours of your life moving LEGO bricks around and taking photographs. Beepy music, but there is at least one Pac Man scene so that excuses that. The video is from the unsigned, Swedish band called rymdreglage.
