From the fine artistic mind of Tomas Saraceno we’ve this sculpture of elastic rope and void. Does this remind you of droplets of rain forming along spiderweb strands of silk? You can see more of Saraceno’s work over at the Tanya Bonakdar Gallery.
Tim Burton at The Museum of Modern Art
This is too cool for words; film master Tim Burton is being featured in the Museum of Modern Art (the New York one) all the way from November 22, 2009 to April 26, 2010. That’s pretty cool news in itself but check out this little 30 second video they’ve got to publicise the date. Fantastic. […]
Avatar art from Cassandra Gunn
I suspect Cassandra Gunn has one of the best names any artist can hope for! Way back towards the end of GameWyrd’s active life I commissioned Cassandra to do some avatar art and she very kindly agreed. It’s taken this long for the avatars to see the the light of day. To enjoy more Cassandra […]
Scary melon sculptures
I thought these two melons are worth showing off – clearly this is evolution. Melons are finding ways to reduce the chances of us eating them! Or they might be some of the melon sculptures that Environmental Graffiti are showing off.
Moet is Murder: Grape Squish
This is one of my favourite discoveries on FFFFound all month. The original looks to be this Flickr post which hit the Digg heights all the way back in 2008. It’s had over 99,000 views. If only Digg wasn’t such a hostile community.
Negative Space by Noma Bar
Negative Space looks like it’s going to be one of those must have art books. It covers clever use of ‘negative space’ – that technique of using the space between things to create another image. There are two examples on this blog, more on Noma’s publisher and even more at Amazon in the preview section.
Book staircase
All the way from the Joie De Vivre tumblr we have a rather fantastic way to decorate a set of stairs. I’ve seen “marketing stairs” in Luton Airport’s railway station. These are way better.
Lego Dune
Another instant classic from Make:Online. At this rate I’ll be signing up to their RSS feed. Of course; what the clever artist has done here is combine to success stories and that’s the fastest route I know to an instant classic. Makes me wish for a bucket of Lego!
The shattered door and window in the sky
Some of Leandro Erlich’s designs are simply staggering. The website, worth a visit, also includes a run down of current and coming exhibitions. The worldwide schedule looks grueling. Presented here are two of my favourite; the Shattered Door and the Window and Ladder.
To pea, or not to pea? That is the nut in question.
This image is from Bent Objects just as the author’s new book comes out. You can also pick the print up at Etsy. It’s called “Hamlet was nuts” but I quite like “To pea, or not to pea?”
