Swedish designer Johan Eriksson, operating as Jocher Games, has solidified his position in the dystopian genre as his flagship title Oceania 2084 secured two top honours from the international outlet No Dice Unrolled.
The Stockholm-based developer’s work, which explores the harrowing intersection of surveillance and human resistance, was named both Reviewer’s Choice Game of the Year and Reviewer’s Choice Best Setting for 2025.
This latest critical success follows a strong year for the title, which previously took home the RPG Magnifico Game of the Year award in April 2025. While many dystopian games focus on combat or survival mechanics, Oceania 2084 is noted for its narrative-heavy approach to corporate authoritarianism and the emotional toll of living under constant oversight.
The judges at No Dice Unrolled highlighted the game’s commitment to exploring ethics and personal agency within a rigid, near-future setting. By focusing on the “human capacity for connection” despite oppressive conditions, Eriksson manages to offer a bleak yet deeply personal roleplaying experience.
