Relationships are defined by the small, lingering moments: a glance held too long, a truth spoken too late, or a choice that irrevocably alters the path ahead. Eerie Games, the studio behind the Origins Award-finalist PARA, has announced a new tabletop roleplaying game dedicated to exploring these emotional tapestries.

Titled Threads We Share, the game is a GMless storytelling experience that uses Major Arcana tarot cards to guide players through the defining arcs of a relationship. It is scheduled to launch on BackerKit this Valentine’s season.
Unlike many roleplaying games that focus on external adventure, Threads We Share turns the lens inward. The system is designed to facilitate intimate, character-driven narratives about connection. While the game can tell romantic stories, the publisher emphasises that it is not strictly a “romance game”. The relationships explored can be platonic, complicated, unfinished, or, as the studio puts it, “something harder to name.”
The game is notable for its flexible player count. It supports solo play, two-player “duets”, and a three-player “polycule” mode, allowing groups to explore complex relationship dynamics often overlooked in traditional TTRPG design.
Mechanically, the game eschews dice in favour of tarot cards and tokens. “Scene Tokens” are used to frame moments of tension or memory, while “Intimacy Tokens” allow players to honour vulnerability and shape emotional turns. The Major Arcana cards serve as a guide to the tone of scenes without strictly dictating outcomes, leaving narrative agency with the players.
Given the sensitive nature of the subject matter, Eerie Games has built the system around consent-forward play. The design intent is to allow players to explore emotional intimacy safely, whether they are weaving an epic romance or a “toxic disaster.”
“Threads We Share invites you to explore a relationship across three defining moments in time,” the studio explained in press materials. “You don’t play every moment of their lives. You play the moments that linger.”
The creative team includes game designer Scott Falzone, whose work often blends tarot and macabre elements; Dacia Pennington (marketing and digital director); and creative director Hannah Rivera. The team previously garnered critical acclaim for PARA, a game that positioned the supernatural as the “heartbeat” of the story rather than just background noise.
The crowdfunding campaign for Threads We Share is set to go live on BackerKit shortly.
