Gloucester’s tabletop and live-action roleplaying scene is scaling up for 2026. Organisers behind the “What’s Your Game” convention have confirmed the event will relocate to the GL1 Leisure Centre (Freedom Leisure) for its next iteration, scheduled for February 7th and 8th, 2026.

The move marks a significant expansion for the multi-genre convention, which spans wargaming, steampunk, cosplay, and board games. However, the headline sponsorship may catch the eye of those seeking historical immersion: the event will feature the Afon Mêl Mead Hall, bringing a distinct flavour to the convention’s social hub.
A Honey-Rich Expansion
While venue changes are often purely logistical, the shift to GL1, situated on Bruton Way, suggests a push for higher footfall and a broader range of exhibitors. The organisers are projecting their largest showcase to date, promising over 60 specialist stalls.
Central to this year’s identity is the partnership with Afon Mêl, a Welsh meadery known for its multi-award-winning honey wines. The “Mead Hall” concept aims to act as a social anchor for the weekend, bridging the gap between a standard trade hall and the immersive atmosphere often found in LARP events.
For the uninitiated, LARP differs from traditional tabletop RPGs by having participants physically act out their characters’ actions, often in costume. It is a hobby that requires space, something the new venue appears better equipped to provide than previous locations. The convention has confirmed dedicated zones for fantasy, re-enactment, and RPGs, as well as a marketplace featuring traders such as Larp Inn, Twisted Goblin Armouries, and The Gloucestershire Geek Society.
Logistics for the Travelling Gamer
The practicalities of the move place the convention in the heart of Gloucester. For attendees driving to the event, all-day parking is available at the Asda car park directly opposite GL1 for £6.
For those planning to travel from further afield, the venue is accessible via public transport.

The State of Regional Conventions
“What’s Your Game” positions itself as a destination for “various tribes of the gaming world,” explicitly targeting the intersection of historical re-enactors, steampunk enthusiasts, and board gamers.
This convergence is becoming increasingly common in the UK convention circuit, where niche interests are pooling resources to sustain larger events. By securing a venue like GL1 and a sponsor like Afon Mêl, the event seems to be aiming for a “festival” feel rather than a simple trade fair.
