Saskatoon-based Puzzle Master has been a fixture in the brain teaser world for over thirty years, and their latest venture into precision-engineered metal puzzles suggests they have no intention of slowing down. The new Kickstarter campaign, Mind Bending Metal Puzzles, has already quadrupled its initial funding goal within a single day.
Founded by Allan Stein, Puzzle Master began as a personal passion for wire puzzles and has since evolved into one of the world’s largest puzzle distributors. This latest collection focuses on high-quality, tactile challenges designed as a “screen-free alternative” to the digital fatigue of the modern world.
The collection features designs from celebrated puzzle creators such as Christoph Lohe and Yavuz Demirhan. The range spans various difficulty levels, culminating in Level 10 challenges for experts who enjoy testing their logic and patience.
Among the featured items is the Fortress of Shadows, a medieval castle-shaped puzzle with a hidden internal mechanism. There is also the Crazy Lock, which traps a key that can only be released through precise, deliberate manoeuvres. For those interested in the history of the craft, Twisted Logic is a standout; it began life as a hand-made, 50-piece limited prototype in Saskatoon before being refined for this wider production run.
Stein noted the “unique kind of magic” that comes from holding a heavy piece of metal and searching for the secret “click” that signals a solution.
The campaign is scheduled to run until 31st December 2025. Backers can currently secure the Crazy Lock at an Early Bird price of approximately £25 (CA$44), which represents a 20% discount on the planned retail price.
