Cubicle 7 has officially released the Starter Set and Gamemaster’s Screen for the Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game, offering players their first comprehensive step into the fractured Empire of legend.

These releases mark a significant expansion for the line, which supports Games Workshop’s return to the classic fantasy setting. While the game shares DNA with the publisher’s acclaimed Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition, The Old World is set earlier in the timeline, during the age of the Three Emperors—a period defined by civil war, unchecked magic, and the encroaching threat of Chaos.
The Hand That Feeds
The new Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game Starter Set is designed as an all-in-one entry point for both newcomers to the hobby and veterans looking to test the new system.
At the heart of the box is “The Hand That Feeds”, a starter adventure set in Talagaad. Described as a bustling but downtrodden river port, Talagaad serves as the backdrop for a mystery that escalates from a simple task into a web of corruption and horror. The adventure is structured to teach the rules of the game progressively as the narrative unfolds, allowing groups to learn by playing rather than front-loading the study of rulebooks.
The set includes pre-generated characters, dice, tokens, and reference sheets. Cubicle 7 has noted that the box is designed to provide sufficient depth for ongoing campaigns beyond the initial adventure, positioning Talagaad as a sandbox for future stories.
Transparency on Maps
In a note to early adopters, the publisher addressed a production issue regarding the set’s cartography. A “slight hiccup” occurred during the preparation of the Zone maps. To ensure the pre-order was not delayed, the decision was made to release the product as is, with the completed Zone maps to be added to the digital downloads shortly.
The Gamemaster’s Screen
Launching alongside the Starter Set is the Warhammer: The Old World Roleplaying Game Gamemaster’s Screen.
The four-panel portrait screen features artwork by Antonio De Luca and Ivana Abbate, depicting the setting’s grim atmosphere. The interior provides GMs with at-a-glance access to essential tables, condition trackers, and rule summaries, keeping gameplay flowing without flipping through the core book.
A 32-page booklet accompanies the screen and significantly expands the setting. It includes a guide to Hernhausen and other settlements along the River Talabec, offering Game Masters ready-made locations to weave into their campaigns. The booklet also contains a collection of “Grim Portents”—narrative hooks designed to introduce tension and foreshadowing—as well as new encounters and NPCs specific to the region.
Both the Starter Set and the GM Screen are now available in digital formats, with physical copies expected to follow.
