The Rubik’s WOWCube, a high-tech gaming device that has been in development for several years, will finally be available for purchase on October 9th for $299 USD. The announcement comes from tech company Cubios, Inc. and toy giant Spin Master.

The device reimagines the iconic puzzle as a handheld digital console. It is composed of eight separate cube modules, interconnected to form a 2×2 cube. Each of the 24 outward-facing squares is a high-resolution screen, and built-in gyroscopes allow the entire unit to function as a motion controller. Players can twist, shake, and tilt the cube to interact with games.
This is not the first time the WOWCube has surfaced. The device has a lengthy history, appearing in various forms at tech shows over the years where it has received a mixed reception from early testers. Today’s announcement, however, confirms a final retail version and a firm launch date.
According to the official release, the platform will feature a range of games, from modernised classics like Space Invaders and Cut the Rope to newer viral hits like 2048 and titles developed specifically for the cube’s unique hardware.
Beyond gaming, the creators are positioning the Rubik’s WOWCube as an educational tool. The device is certified by STEM.org, and an open SDK will be available, allowing developers to create and upload their own games and applications. The goal is to foster a community of creators who can build experiences that leverage the cube’s 3D, motion-based interface.
The $299 price point places the WOWCube firmly in the premium gadget category, positioning it as a potential holiday gift for tech enthusiasts and puzzle enthusiasts seeking a novel experience.
