Dark Horse has brought the complete Hellboy and B.P.R.D. collections to DriveThruComics, making the iconic universe digitally available on a platform popular with tabletop gamers. The move, which arrives just in time for the Halloween season, also includes titles such as Lobster Johnson, Witchfinder, and Baltimore.

The publisher’s catalogue on the digital comic store already features graphic novels for gaming properties such as Critical Role, The Witcher, and Cyberpunk 2077. Dark Horse has confirmed that more series, including Dragon Age and Harrow County, will be added in the coming weeks.
This expansion is a deliberate nod to the crossover audience between comics and roleplaying games. DriveThruComics is a sister site to the giant TTRPG marketplace DriveThruRPG, both of which joined with virtual tabletop Roll20 in 2022. For gamers who use the platform for their RPG needs, the extensive Dark Horse library is now just a click away. In addition to the comics, several Hellboy and Lobster Johnson prose novels are also available from the associated DriveThruFiction site.
Mark Bernardi, VP of Book Trade & Digital Sales at Dark Horse, highlighted the synergy between the two audiences. In a statement, he noted,
DriveThru Comics has an incredibly passionate and engaged user base and we are thrilled to be able to introduce our comics on their favorite platform. Many of their users are gamers, making it a perfect home for our comics and graphic novels tied to video games, RPGs, and other games.”
Dark Horse Comics was founded in 1986 by Mike Richardson, who grew the company from his retail chain, Things From Another World. The publisher is known for creator-owned titles, such as Mike Mignola’s Hellboy and The Umbrella Academy, as well as a long history of high-quality licensed comics and influential manga translations, including Akira and Ghost in the Shell.
You can browse the full Dark Horse collection, including the newly added Hellboy universe titles, at their publisher page on DriveThruComics.
