In honour of International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th, the publisher Tabletop Adventures is running a sale on their pirate-themed roleplaying supplements.

The company, which specialises in creating aids for “Harried Game Masters,” has launched the Pieces of Eight Bundle on the popular TTRPG marketplace DriveThruRPG. The bundle offers a 20% discount on all of the publisher’s pirate-related products and will be available until September 22nd.
Included in the digital treasure chest is Black Flags: Piracy in the Caribbean, a setting book for historical, real-world pirate campaigns. The bundle also contains the NPC supplement Cap’n Marcroft, Rogue and Rake, alongside two smaller free products, Uncharted Isles and Pirate Places.
Alongside the sale, Tabletop Adventures is hosting a “Pieces of Eight” event on its own website. The celebration includes posts on family-friendly pirate films, photographs of a treasure chest, and an explainer on the origin of the phrase “pieces of eight.”
International Talk Like a Pirate Day is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers from Albany, Oregon. According to the story, the date of September 19th was chosen simply because it was the birthday of Summers’ ex-wife and was therefore easy to remember. The quirky celebration gained international attention after humour columnist Dave Barry promoted it in 2002.
Tabletop Adventures has been producing roleplaying aids for several decades, with a stated mission to provide resources for game masters who lack the time to prepare as much as they would like for their games.
