Video game giant SEGA has partnered with the not-for-profit marketplace PlanetPlay for a significant PC games sale, with 100% of the profits funding verified environmental projects across the globe.
The SEGA Debut Sale, which runs until 30th September, features over 240 of the publisher’s PC titles, including major franchises, with discounts of up to 80%. This collaboration makes a substantial catalogue of well-known games available on PlanetPlay’s growing platform, which directs all its proceeds to green initiatives.
PlanetPlay is a unique marketplace that offers over 2,000 PC games and reinvests its profits into Gold Standard environmental projects. The company reports having over 320,000 registered users. The initiatives supported by sales include the Hongera project, which provides clean cookstoves in Kenya, and the With One Seed reforestation program in Timor-Leste.
The sale offers a chance for gamers to acquire titles from SEGA’s extensive library while contributing to these environmental causes. Highlights from the sale include recent releases and fan favourites such as Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Persona 5 Royal, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Sonic Shadow Generations, Total War: Warhammer, and Two Point Museum.
This partnership is a significant step for PlanetPlay, following its “Project Indie” initiative launched in August with Secret Mode. That scheme was designed to spotlight emerging developers and ease their entry into environmental contributions.

Felix Bradshaw, Global Head of Business Development at PlanetPlay, commented on the new partnership in a statement,
We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome SEGA to the PlanetPlay movement. SEGA has created some of the most iconic and beloved games in history, and now players have the chance to enjoy those titles while making a real difference for the planet.”
Representing SEGA, Rhys Cash, VP of Digital Sales, added,
Featuring SEGA titles on PlanetPlay reflects our commitment to engaging our audience through an expansive digital presence. Making our catalogue available on the platform not only extends our reach but also supports PlanetPlay’s ambition to drive positive impact through video game sales.”
