A free-to-download adventure from Elven Tower for both D&D 5e and Shadowdark RPG challenges mid-level parties to confront a creature born of internet memes: the goose hydra.

The 17-page scenario, titled King Honk, is designed for level 8 characters. The plot begins with strange disappearances and attacks that lead the adventurers to the blighted marshes of Feathermere Hollow. There, they’ll discover that a cult has desecrated an ancient avian temple, awakening a monstrous, multi-headed goose.
The adventure tasks players with investigating the eerie ruins, dealing with cursed goslings and deranged cultists to uncover the truth. The publisher describes the adventure as a mix of mystery, horror, and “heroic absurdity,” culminating in a final battle against the titular King Honk.
The central antagonist, the ‘Honkdra’, taps into a vein of geek culture that surfaced around 2021. As Geek Native reported at the time, the concept of a goose hydra gained traction online following the widespread success of the chaotic video game Untitled Goose Game.
Behind the adventure is Elven Tower. Derek Ruiz, the founder, has been a GM for over 19 years, running a wide array of systems from various editions of D&D to indie games like Blades in the Dark and Mouse Guard.
He is joined by Arthur Rouise, who manages illustrations, editing, and the business side of their publishing schedule. Elven Tower is also known for its ongoing publication, Dungeon Vault Magazine, which provides content for D&D 5e and Shadowdark and has recently reached its 59th issue.

King Honk is available as a free download from DriveThruRPG. The download includes the full-colour 17-page PDF, a printer-friendly black and white version, and high-resolution maps suitable for VTT platforms.
