Dark World Studios has, finally, put Acheron back on Kickstarter.
The Tucson-based publisher has been working on the project for some time, following the mature game’s initial crowdfunding attempt five years ago. The latest pitch dials up the nightmare horror of the supernatural and nudges down the government control. We’ve until August 14th to back the Kickstarter.
The story takes place in a dystopian world where people possess esoteric powers, and nightmares are a reality. You can fight back, but it may come at a cost to your humanity.
The system uses D20, and the setting is a blend of the Dishonoured series, the SCP Foundation, and Orwell.
The Acheron Core Rule Book provides deep and flexible character customisation for players. There are 11 distinctive backgrounds, a host of Merits and Flaws, and over 60 free-form Ability trees. The system also features an extensive range of supernatural powers, including five expansive forms of Occult Magic and seven free-form abilities such as Pyromancy, Telekinesis, and Necromancy.
For the Archivist (Game Master), the book offers the essential tools to build and run compelling campaigns. It contains a guide for running the game, detailed world maps describing 60 unique districts, and information on over 65 factions to interact with. Furthermore, a bestiary details more than 75 creatures, ranging from common beasts to mind-bending horrors, ready to populate this dark world.
Gather your party of 2-6 players and uncover the buried histories of Acheron. Fight horrors and demons, rebel against the oppressive Government, tear down the fat cat factions… or embrace the occult, crush the anarchists, and lead your faction to glory on the open market. The choice is yours!

Backers can get into the add-on program by offering $5 now. Alternatively, those who can pledge $25 get the Acheron core rules in PDF. That includes the Player’s Handbook, the GM’s Guide, and the Bestiary.
At $45, there’s a digital deluxe edition of Acheron which includes the CRB, a module pack, short stories and the Arachnitect STL file.
The Acheron hardcover is available for $80.
Higher up the pledge ladder, there’s a $200 tier that includes a hardback, signed copy, the CRB, exclusive dice and bag, the modules in print and digital, the Archivists screen, luck tokens, and the STL. This is a limited tier, and if you miss it, it will repeat again at $225.
Acheron is already written, and the digital edition is therefore scheduled for release in August this year. However, the paper versions of the grim TTRPG won’t be out until October.
