UK-based 12 Sided Studios is heading to Gen Con this year to debut their new tabletop roleplaying game, Force of Extinction. The game puts players in the precarious boots of survivors on a future Earth reclaimed by a resurgent and hostile natural world.

In the world of Force of Extinction, humanity is on the verge of being wiped out. The few who remain must contend with a planet that is healing itself, often violently. Cities are overgrown, familiar landscapes have been transformed, and new predators hunt in the ruins of civilisation. It’s a setting that blends science fiction with fantasy elements, where survival is the only goal.
The game is built on a system designed to be fast-paced and easy to learn, with a focus on narrative and storytelling over complex rules. Character creation is said to be intuitive, offering various archetypes, survival tools, and weapons to equip survivors for the dangers they will face.
12 Sided Studios will be demonstrating the game at Gen Con 2025, which runs from July 31st to August 3rd. They are hosting several one-shot sessions where attendees can get a first-hand experience of the system. Those who participate in these sessions will receive a physical copy of the Quickstart guide.
In addition to the public games, a high-profile actual play is scheduled. This live show will feature a notable cast from across the TTRPG streaming world. Jasper William Cartwright (of 3 Black Halflings, Dimension 20, and Critical Role fame) will be the Game Master. He’ll be joined by players Jeremy Cobb (3 Black Halflings), Ed Spence (The Fourth Age, Shadows of Gotham), and Danielle Radford (Dimension 20).
A teaser trailer for the game offers a glimpse into its grim but vibrant world, setting the tone for a desperate struggle for survival.
While Force of Extinction is a new IP, 12 Sided Studios isn’t new to the scene. The UK-based production house has provided support for projects with well-known names frequently featured on GeekNative, such as Critical Role (on the show Thresher), MCDM, Brotherwise Games, and AEG Presents. The studio was founded by gamers and performers with a stated goal of creating representative and fair content within the geek space.
Gamers interested in playing Force of Extinction at Gen Con can find registration links for the various sessions on the game’s official website.
