The Argentine electropop powerhouse SIAMÉS has returned with a striking visual departure in their latest music video, My Little One. Known for the gritty, noir-inspired 2D animation of hits like The Wolf and The Phoenix, the band has traded shadows for a vibrant 3D-animated sci-fi landscape.
This latest release, part of the band’s self-described “Melodramatic Era,” sees SIAMÉS moving away from their long-standing partnership with RUDO Co. and their more recent collaboration with MAKE Originals. Instead, the band has enlisted the Mexican-based Kukari Animation Studio to craft a tactile, bright, and deeply emotional short film. While previous videos felt like chapters in a burgeoning dark universe, My Little One presents itself as a self-contained, wholesome fable about growth and companionship.
Directed and written by Javier Mendez Lafon, the video follows a young alien girl on a lush, bioluminescent planet. The narrative centres on her relationship with a small, flightless creature that eventually evolves into a majestic, winged guardian. The 3D animation style is a significant shift for the band, opting for soft textures and a “toy-box” aesthetic that mirrors the nurturing themes of the lyrics.
The track was recorded at the legendary Sonic Ranch in Texas, featuring the signature dual vocals of Barbie Williams and Serge (Sergio Bufi). While this specific track is a gentle lullaby, it appears to follow the strict creative manifesto established at the start of this album cycle.
Regarding the recording sessions for The Melodramatic Era singles, Bläkk, a member of SIAMÉS, said in a statement:
We focused on capturing the sound of the band playing live using vintage instruments, mics, and amps available at the studio. We deliberately avoided adding extra layers or instruments that the six members couldn’t play live, ensuring an authentic and refreshed sound.”
The start of a new world or a singular detour?
While the world-building in My Little One is rich enough to support an entire series, all signs suggest this is a one-off experiment rather than the foundation of a new persistent universe. In the Melodramatic album cycle, SIAMÉS has treated each single as a distinct creative island, hand-picking different animation houses around the world to match the specific “melodrama” of each song.
By rotating through studios like MAKE and Kukari, the band is prioritising emotional variety over a unified visual brand. For fans of roleplaying games and speculative fiction, My Little One offers a beautiful “what if” scenario – a glimpse into a softer side of the SIAMÉS multiverse that we may never see again.
