Modern Awesome Labs has decided that plastic, metal, and even gemstone dice are simply not prehistoric enough. Their latest campaign, Tiny Fossils, offers tabletop gamers the chance to roll critical hits with actual Tyrannosaurus Rex bone.
We’ve got until February 12th to back the campaign.
The immediate question, of course, is “How?” and perhaps “Should we?” The creators assure backers that these dice are made from “gift-shop-asaurus” material – fragments and scraps from private digs that are too small or damaged to be of scientific value to museums. Instead of collecting dust in a bin, they are being repurposed for your D&D sessions.
The campaign offers three distinct ways to own a piece of the Cretaceous period. The most accessible option uses pulverised bone mixed into a resin, creating a textured, stone-like finish. For those wanting visible chunks of history, the “Inclusion” dice feature fragments of fossil suspended in clear resin. Finally, for the truly dedicated (and wealthy), there are dice carved from solid fossilised bone.
The project has already crushed its funding goal, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Own your very own 65 million year old dinosaur bones crafted into beautiful dice and works of art.

Modern Awesome Labs has structured the pledge tiers to cater to both dice goblins and dinosaur enthusiasts. Here are five of the available rewards:
- Pledge $69 (approx. £52): A full 7-piece set of Fossil Resin Dice. These are made from the pulverized bone powder mixed with binding resin.
- Pledge $99 (approx. £74): A full 7-piece set of Bone Inclusion Dice. These clear dice hold suspended fragments of the T-Rex fossil.
- Pledge $149 (approx. £111): A 1:53 Scale T-Rex Skeleton Replica. If you don’t need dice, this museum-style display piece is made from the same fossil-infused resin.
- Pledge $199 (approx. £149): A 1:12 Scale T-Rex Skull Replica. A larger, more detailed display piece for the shelf.
- Pledge $599 (approx. £4446): The Solid Bone Dice Set. A full polyhedral set carved directly from the stabilized fossil material.
For those looking to mix science with their history, the campaign also features “Element Dice” as add-ons.
Delivery is currently estimated for July 2026, giving you plenty of time to come up with dinosaur puns for your next game night.
