Peacock has released the full trailer for its new horror comedy series The ‘Burbs – a remake of the classic movie that starred Tom Hanks and Bruce Dern.
Set in modern-day suburbia, sort of as we know it (or do we?), the residents of “the safest town in America” have a lot of secrets to uncover.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Set in present-day suburbia, The ‘Burbs follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.
The ‘Burbs stars Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall, alongside Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar. Watch the full trailer below before reading my opinion.
There’s something about recreating a comedy classic with a modern spin that always feels like it’s going to be a hard sell, and the trailer isn’t really giving me much comedy to change my opinion of that. It feels a little like it’s trying to hard and not getting much reward in return.
Hopefully I’m wrong.
And you’ll be able to watch The ‘Burbs when it’s released on 8th February via Peacock.
