The DMsGuild is the storefront co-run by Roll20 and Wizards of the Coast, designed exclusively for community content that uses official Dungeons & Dragons intellectual property.
Yesterday, we published the unofficial best-sellers on sister site DriveThruRPG. That list was topped by massive indie hits like the Fabula Ultima Atlas and Critical Role’s Daggerheart, which reached the ‘Adamantine’ status (5,000+ sales).
The DMsGuild charts for 2025 releases tell a much quieter, but strategic story.

While no 2025 release on the DMsGuild hit the Mithral or Adamantine tiers, twelve products secured ‘Gold’ status (501+ sales). New games do not define the list, but by creators who have mastered the art of supporting the official release schedule.

The most striking feature of this list is the dominance of Heroic Maps. Ten of the twelve spots are occupied by battlemap packs designed for Wizards of the Coast’s official 2025 anthology, Dragon Delves.
This confirms a massive trend in the VTT era: players buy the official book for the story, but they purchase third-party content to make it playable. Heroic Maps successfully drafted behind the official marketing release, providing the high-quality tactical maps that modern VTT users demand, but which official modules often lack in sufficient detail.
Seeing Fleshing Out Curse of Strahd: Vallaki hit Gold is a significant community moment. While Curse of Strahd (2016) is widely considered the best 5th Edition campaign, this chart placement isn’t due to a new official book. It marks the return of community creator MandyMod, whose guides are legendary in the subreddit r/CurseofStrahd.
After a hiatus, the release of this “Complete” Vallaki guide in May 2025 was a major event for DMs. It demonstrates that a healthy ecosystem requires a dedicated creator base as much as official support.
It is worth noting that while DMsGuild has a massive audience, its new releases for 2025 topped out at the ‘Gold’ tier (500+ sales), whereas the indie-focused DriveThruRPG had titles hitting ‘Adamantine’ (5,000+ sales). This suggests that while 5e players are numerous, their spending on third-party content is highly fragmented, with much of it focused on back-catalogue classics. In contrast, the indie scene is more driven by the “new hotness”, which can include blockbuster releases like Daggerheart.
Why is this chart in a new format?
Long-time Geek Native readers will recognise that this list differs from our usual annual breakdown. In previous years, the Roll20 and DriveThruRPG teams kindly provided us with sanitised data, allowing us to drill down into specific genres and shine a spotlight on new publishers.
This year, that official support was withdrawn. However, we believe these charts are too valuable to the community to lose.
Instead of an official spreadsheet, we turned to the public ‘metal’ best-seller badges. We manually tracked 2025 releases across the marketplace, verifying them one by one – a process involving dozens of open Chrome tabs and a lot of manual data entry. You can read the full story of how we compiled this data, and see the Adamantine indie hits that defined the year, in our unofficial DriveThruRPG best-sellers analysis.
Furthermore, if you are looking for official sales data on Dungeons & Dragons products (specifically how they perform on Virtual Tabletops), we did secure exclusive access elsewhere.
