Paizo, the publisher behind the popular fantasy roleplaying game Pathfinder, has announced a partnership with the Power Word Meal charity event. For every person who backs their latest project, Pathfinder Quest, on the crowdfunding site BackerKit, the company will donate one meal to the United Nations World Food Programme.

The initiative, organised by William Earl of DNDShorts, is designed to rally the tabletop gaming community against global hunger. Paizo’s commitment extends to all backers of the Pathfinder Quest campaign, which runs until October 17th, and includes those who pledged before the charity partnership was announced. The company has capped its donation at a maximum of 10,000 meals.
Power Word Meal benefits ShareTheMeal, the official fundraising and awareness app from the U.N. World Food Programme, which has successfully delivered over 260 million meals to those in need.
As an incentive, anyone who donates directly to the Power Word Meal campaign will receive a PDF of TTRPG content suitable for both Pathfinder Second Edition and Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. The digital booklet contains an adventure for second-level characters titled Mush! Food Rush!. Paizo has confirmed that all backers of Pathfinder Quest will also receive a copy of this PDF.
Other prominent figures from the TTRPG community are supporting the campaign, including actors Deborah Ann Woll and Anjali Bhimani, as well as creators like the Dungeon Dudes, Ginny Di, and Pointy Hat.
The gaming platform StartPlaying is also heavily involved, waiving its fees for any charity games run on its service for the event. All proceeds from these games will go directly to ShareTheMeal. In a further move to boost contributions, StartPlaying has pledged to match donations up to a total of $2,000.
In addition to the digital adventure, donors to the campaign are eligible to enter prize draws for a chance to win items such as a bundle of Pathfinder and Starfinder core rulebooks and a copy of the Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook signed by Anjali Bhimani.
The main Power Word Meal fundraising campaign concludes on October 6th, while Paizo will continue to count Pathfinder Quest backers for its meal donation pledge until October 17th.
