Following the success of its fantasy-themed whiskies, Matthew Lillard’s Find Familiar Spirits is leaning further into the horror genre. The company’s Macabre Spirits brand has announced a collaboration with horror-metal band Ice Nine Kills to launch a new whiskey, Horrorwood Reserve.

The project brings together Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas with Find Familiar Spirits co-founders Matthew Lillard, known for roles in Scream and Five Nights at Freddy’s, and screenwriter Justin Ware. The collaboration extends beyond the bottle, with Lillard set to appear in a new Ice Nine Kills music video in October, officially entering the band’s cinematic universe.
Find Familiar Spirits first gained attention with its TTRPG-inspired Quest’s End line, which successfully blended fantasy storytelling with collectable spirits. As Geek Native has previously reported, the company recently announced another horror release under its Macabre Spirits label, the Western Gothic-themed Hell is Not Mocked. This latest partnership with Ice Nine Kills solidifies the company’s expansion into the horror fandom.
Ice Nine Kills is an American heavy metal band from Boston, known for its horror-inspired lyrics and cinematic music videos. Their last two albums, The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, have seen the band’s popularity surge, making them a fitting partner for a horror-themed spirit.
Spencer Charnas, the band’s lead, described the new whiskey in a statement.
Horrorwood Reserve is the liquid soundtrack to your favorite slasher flick,” he said. “It tastes like suspense, danger, and the satisfaction of surviving until the credits roll.”
The whiskey itself is made from Bloody Butcher corn, an heirloom variety known for its deep red kernels. It has been aged for five years in new American white oak, reportedly giving it a profile with notes of cinnamon, leather, and spice.
Horrorwood Reserve will be sold in two limited, collectable boxed sets. The $129.99 Golden Age Edition includes the bottle, a full set of 10 celebrity cocktail recipe cards, and a custom-designed brass skull bottle stopper. The $84.99 Silver Scream Edition contains the whiskey and two of the recipe cards. Both editions feature artwork by Michael Cortada and a letter from Charnas.
The public release is scheduled for October 9th, 2025, with a presale for members of the Ice Nine Kills ‘Psychos Only’ and Find Familiar Spirits’ “Fam Club” mailing lists starting on October 7th. The whiskey will be available in very limited quantities directly from the HorrorwoodReserve.com website.
