Scottish wargaming company Warbases is set to expand its fantasy miniature collection, announcing the acquisition of the classic Hill Dwarves range from Pig Iron Productions. The stout and doughty warriors will be integrated into the growing Bifrost Miniatures line, with an expected release in early 2026.

The move marks another step in Warbases’ continued growth, which recently saw the company purchase its own dedicated headquarters. The addition of the Hill Dwarves bolsters their own-brand 28mm fantasy offerings, bringing a well-regarded and characterful range of miniatures under the Bifrost banner.
Pig Iron Productions is primarily known for its extensive collection of 28mm sci-fi miniatures, making the fantasy dwarves something of an outlier in their catalogue. This sale allows Pig Iron to focus on its core science fiction ranges while ensuring the classic dwarf models remain available to gamers through a new home.
The miniatures themselves are a traditional take on the fantasy race. The range features heavily armoured dwarves clad in mail and plate, sporting magnificently braided beards. Armed with a customary selection of axes, hammers, and shields, the figures are ideal for representing grizzled veterans and steadfast shield walls in fantasy roleplaying and wargaming settings.
This acquisition follows news from Tabletop Scotland, where Geek Native reported on Warbases’ expansion and investment in its Bifrost range. The purchase of the Hill Dwarves seems to be a direct continuation of that strategy, adding an established line to their in-house production.
While fans will need to wait until early 2026 to get their hands on the newly re-housed dwarves, the move signals Warbases’ serious commitment to becoming a more significant player in the miniatures market, beyond their well-known MDF terrain and basing supplies.
